After doing a few winter markets like Portobello, Cloverdale, and Kitsilano, Riley Park felt different right away. We were there on Saturday, April 18, from 10 in the morning until 2, and honestly, just being outside again felt really nice.
It didn’t have that busy holiday market energy. No big rush. No packed crowds. People were just taking it slow. Some were walking around with coffee, some had their dogs, and a lot of people were just strolling through without any real plan.
A Different Kind of Market Day
The day didn’t start busy, but it picked up little by little. It never got hectic, but it also never felt quiet. There was always someone stopping by, looking at the table, or asking something.
A few people actually remembered us from earlier markets, which was a nice surprise. Others just came over out of curiosity. It felt very easy. No pressure, no rush.
The Small Interactions That Matter
Most of the day was just small conversations. Nothing formal. People are asking simple things. How to use something. What goes well with what. Talking about what they cook at home.
Our sauces, spice blends, and chai came up in a very natural way. It didn’t feel like we were trying to sell anything. It felt more like just chatting and sharing ideas.

Ending on a Good Note
By the time it was 2 PM, it didn’t feel like we needed a big crowd for it to be a good day. It was calm, steady, and just easy to be there.
After all the winter markets, this one felt like a bit of a reset. New season, different vibe. But the reason we do this is still the same. Meeting people, having real conversations, and just being part of the market.
