Aai’s Malvani Simmering Sauce

$11.99 | 450g

Category:
This sauce holds a special place in our hearts. Aai’s Malvani Gravy is an heirloom recipe passed down to Chef Tushar by his mother, whose roots trace back to the Malvan coast of India. It’s more than just a sauce—it’s a taste of home, the seaside breeze, and generations of love cooked into every spoonful.

This sauce tells a story. Aai’s Malvani Gravy is Chef Tushar’s tribute to his mother and the culinary heritage of his coastal hometown, Malvan. Every spoonful carries the warmth of a mother’s touch, the richness of family tradition, and the flavour of the sea. Inspired by the slow-cooked gravies made in Konkani homes, this sauce is crafted with patience, love, and real ingredients.

What Does It Taste Like?

Rich, deep, and slightly nutty with hints of sweetness from roasted coconut. You’ll taste layers of warm spices—peppery, smoky, and earthy—all blending into one comforting, aromatic gravy. It’s bold, but balanced. Spicy, but not overwhelming.

How It’s Made

Caramelised onions and roasted coconut form the heart of this gravy. We slow cook it with hand-ground spices just like Aai did—no shortcuts. Add your choice of protein or veggies and simmer until it all comes together in a smooth, flavorful curry.

What’s Inside?

  • Onions & Tomatoes – For a rich, savoury base

  • Ginger & Garlic – To add depth and aroma

  • Dried Coconut – Roasted for a nutty sweetness

  • Black Pepper, Cloves, Cinnamon & Nutmeg – Warm, intense spice

  • Cardamom & Bay Leaf – Fragrant and mellow

  • Red Chilli Powder – Brings a gentle heat

  • Mustard & Caraway Seeds – Add punch and texture

  • Turmeric, Coriander & Cumin Seeds – Earthy, citrusy, and grounding

How to Use It

Simply add the sauce to your pan, toss in your protein or vegetables, and let it simmer. Garnish with cilantro and a splash of lime. Serve with steamed rice, chapati, or crusty bread. Let Aai’s recipe bring you home, wherever you are.

I used to purchase different Indian spice blend mixes, and that company went out of business. After seeing a review in Vancouver magazine about these I wanted to try them out. I placed an order, and literally the next DAY I had them delivered to my door by the owner. It was so awesome. I just made the chai today and it was delicious. I can't wait to try the rest! Thanks!

I'm absolutely obsessed with The Indian Pantry Foods Inc's Goan Vindaloo sauce! It's become a staple in my kitchen, and I can't get enough of it. The flavors are rich, spicy, and utterly delicious - it's like a party in my mouth! The sauce is perfectly balanced, not too thick or too thin, and packs just the right amount of heat. I've used it to make everything from chicken vindaloo to veggie stir-fries, and they've never disappointed. I've tried other sauces from them, but the Goan Vindaloo is my absolute fave. Would highly recommend giving it a try - your taste buds will thank you! 5 stars, hands down!

I've been hooked on The Indian Pantry for over 6 months now—their Goan Vindaloo sauce is pure fire (in the best way) and the chai concentrate is my secret weapon for when surprise guests show up. As an Indian home cook, these two have turned "I have 20 minutes" into "dinner is ready and tastes like I slaved for hours." I first grabbed them at a pop-up at UBC, and the quality still blows me away. Quick, authentic, and no compromise—absolute must-try if you want delicious Indian food without the drama. Highly recommended!

My first encounter with Indian Pantry’s Goan Vindaloo masala was during a camping trip this summer, and it left a lasting impression. After that, I also tried their garam masala, and I’ve been a hooked to it ever since. The vindaloo masala isn’t just great with potatoes—I’ve used it with a variety of vegetables, and it always delivers a wonderful flavour. Their spices are fresh and well-balanced. I have heard great reviews about their chai masala and Bengali masala too, although I haven’t tried due to personal dietary preferences. I would truly recommend the Indian Pantry masala for anyone who want to try and enhance their cooking with genuine Indian flavours.

I recently tried several products from The Indian Pantry Foods Inc in Vancouver, and I’m so impressed! The Goan Vindaloo and Makhani sauces made cooking effortless and tasted authentic. Their spice blends—especially Garam Masala and Malvani Masala—are incredibly aromatic, and the Cutting Chai Masala is perfect for tea lovers. Everything feels fresh, high-quality, and thoughtfully made. I even gifted their products to colleagues for the holidays, and everyone was blown away by the flavors! Definitely my go-to for real Indian taste. 5 stars!

The Indian Pantry products are amazing. I am a big fan of the brand and have been using them on daily basis from last couple of months. Their Vindaloo sauce is so good, it’s solid, flavourful and has an amazing texture when cooked with Paneer and Tofu. Their other sauces and spices are also great. They are easy to make and tasty. It can be your best Holiday Gift option for your Friend an and Family. Their packaging is beautiful with a small recipe book inside which makes it even more special. I also personally feel that they are fairly priced. Overall it’s a very good product and pocket friendly, I would highly recommend it to anyone willing to explore something new this Holiday season.

If you’re on the hunt for something bold but comforting, their Goan Vindaloo –inspired pasta is a revelation. This inventive mash‑up starts with The Indian Pantry’s Goan Vindaloo Simmering Sauce—a tangy, spicy masterpiece that delivers tomato, vinegar, garlic, ginger, and warming spices in every spoonful. What hits first is a sharp, sour tang tempered with slow‑building heat—vibrant, layered, and utterly addictive

I used this Goan Vindaloo Masala to make prawn curry, and it turned out really good. The masala has a fresh aroma and a well balanced spice level. It gives the curry a very authentic Goan taste without being overpowering. Its easy to use and makes homemade curry taste restaurant style. What I really liked is how easy it is to use just throw in onions and tomatoes, saute them, add the masala, and you are almost done. Overall, the flavors are rich and slightly tangy, which goes perfectly with prawns.

We love spicy Indian food, and when it comes to making it quickly and effortlessly, one name always comes to mind: The Indian Pantry Foods. All of their sauces and masalas are excellent, but the Vindaloo Sauce/Masala is truly outstanding. We have purchased Vindaloo, Garam, Bengali, and several other masalas, including Chai Masala, from them many times, and every one has been consistently high in quality. The Vindaloo stands out, but the others are equally impressive and the packages even include simple recipes for quick dishes for convenience. We highly recommend The Indian Pantry Foods Inc.
